I have been reading 1 and 2 Kings and 1 and 2 Chronicles the last month or so. These books relay the stories of the kings of Judah and Israel during this time. One thing that sticks out is that the kings always did one of two things. Either they followed the ways of the Lord or they fell into idol worship and clung to the ways of the world. Those kings who followed God were blessed with victory... over those who attacked them. The kings who bowed to the graven images or allowed the people to do so, were defeated and came to an early death. The same applies to us. If we will follow Jesus and live the way that He taught us, we will be victorious through Him. When we turn away from Christ and become weak, we will always be open to attack. Which would you rather be, victorious or weak and defeated? Keep your sights on Jesus and follow Him in all your ways and victory will follow you.
