So, whats your story?

There is a popular song out right now that is playing on secular radio called "The Story of My Life" (or something like that). After hearing that song being preformed on TV last night, I could not help but to ask myself what the story of my life was. Would my story be known as he was a good guy? Would it be that he was a hard worker? Or would it be that he was a man who followed God's own heart...? I certainly want it to be the last one and that is what I am striving for.

Now, I have to ask you, what is the story of your life? Is your story going to be about the cars and the houses? Is your story going to be about your good works? Or is your story going to be about how you served God and only Him? Carefully consider where the story of your life is headed. Ask yourself, is my story going in the direction that God has planned for me? If not, it is not to late for a re-write. Take the story of your life the direction that God has planned for you. Follow His leading and see where He takes you. I promise, you will not be disappointed.

Feel Adrift?

Today, during my prayer time, I was sitting at a local body of water praying. At some point I looked up out onto the lake and I saw one lonely piece of driftwood floating aimlessly by. The thought occured to me that many people are just like that piece of driftwood. They are just drifting through this life. They just floating along with no course, no rudder to steer them. Without Jesus in your life, this is you! Maybe you have felt this way and don't know why. Maybe you know that you have a greater purpose but you don't know how to get there. Why not give Jesus a try? Why not let Jesus show you your purpose and let him lead you and guide you through the rest of this life? Jesus will set you on a course in your life that you have never imagined. Try Him today!

Stand By Me

It's Tuesday night and that usually means that my wife and I meet up with a friend for dinner. Tonight, our friend brought another acquaintance and her small son with her. After our meal, we stopped by our local wholesale club so they could pick up a few essentials. Being the only guy around, the young boy with us hung around me leading me from one display to another. At one point we somehow got separated by a few feet and when the little boy noticed he looked over and said, "Stand by me".

As I moved closer to him I began to realize that this is what we as humans desire more that anything. We desire companionship. We have a longing to have someone stand by us. That desire is hardwired into our being, it is how we were created. Many of us though, try to fill that longing with human company (empty relationships) but that longing is still there. Others try to fill that longing with stuff, some try drugs, some try alcohol. Nothing seems to meet that need.

Only one thing will ever fill that empty place. That is Jesus! He is there waiting on us to look to Him and say "Stand by me". This is all He wants and that is all we will ever need. Tonight, I ask you, if you have never ask that of Jesus, why not give Him a try. He will do more than just stand by you. He will be closer than a brother.

Casting My Net to the Other Side

Simon Peter said, “I’m going fishing.” “We’ll come, too,” they all said. So they went out in the boat, but they caught nothing all night.  At dawn Jesus was standing on the beach, but the disciples couldn’t see who he was. 5 He called out, “Fellows, have you caught any fish?” “No,” they replied.  Then he said, “Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you’ll get some!” So they did, and they couldn’t haul in the net because there were so many fish in it.  John 21:3-6

Tonight while waiting to be seated at a local resturant with my family, this portion of scripture came into my mind.  I wasn't reading anything.  I wasn't even thinking about anything, my mind was empty.  I was just watching the wait staff and the hostesses in their hustle and bustle trying to seat everyone who had come into the resturant.  The Holy Spirit had placed this story in my mind but why?  What was the reason?

This Saturday, March 23rd will be the 3rd anniversary of my first post on Facebook as Tell Someone Ministries.  God has blessed and expanded us into Twitter and a blogspot page.  He has allow our words to be read in Russia, China, India, Turkey, Vietnam, Indonesia as well as many other countries across the globe and on every continent.  I have been encouraged and blessed by "likes" and positive comments from believers, but that is only part of our goal.  Not only do we want to encourage the believer to go and tell someone, but it is our goal to see the lost saved and to disciple them to tell others.  So where do we go from here?

The Holy Spirit is telling me to the while I am fishing, to "cast my net" to the other side.  He is wanting me to step out from behind the keyboard.  He wants me to step outside of cyber-space and into the real world.  He is calling me to do things that I have ran from all my life.  I do not know exactly where all that will lead.  I do know that the Lord has been leading in this direction for some time now.  He has led me to make choices the last few months that has confounded some.  They don't understand, but I do.

As I undertake this next step by "casting my net" to the other side, be praying for me.  I will continue posting online but it may not be as often.

The Surrendered Life

A large crowd was following Jesus. He turned around and said to them, “If you want to be my disciple, you must hate everyone else by comparison—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple. And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:25-27

What Jesus is talking about here is forgetting about things of this life and focusing totally and completely on Him.   He don't want to be second best. He wants, and deserves, to be number one in our life.  We have to put ourselves aside.  We have to let go of all the glame and glitter of this world and allow Christ full access to our life.  To often, we say we want to follow Jesus but we hide one little part of ourself, we block off a tiny chunk of our daily life to keep all our own.  Friends, it don't work like that.  Jesus Christ wants every little bit of us.  He wants every second.  He wants nothing less than our complete, unaltered committment to Him.  He wants us to completely surrender to Him.

Are you living the surrendered life?  If not start working toward that end today. Start out each day by surrendering and giving more and more of your thoughts, more of your time and more of your life to Him. I want to live the surrendered life! Do you?
